Face Lift
Candidates for a Face Lift
A facelift may be right for you if you are noticing sagging skin along the jawline or neck, deep creases around the mouth, or loss of youthful facial contours and volume deflation. Ideal candidates are in good health, are non-smokers, and have realistic expectations. Many patients choose a facelift when nonsurgical treatments can no longer achieve the level of rejuvenation they want. Significant weight loss may also accentuate these changes as well.
Goals of a Face Lift
The goal of a facelift is to restore a more youthful, refreshed appearance while preserving your unique facial features. By elevating and repositioning underlying tissues, redraping skin, and improving definition along the jawline and neck, a facelift can take years off your appearance. Results are long-lasting, though they cannot stop the natural aging process. Dr. Ramachandra’s aim is to achieve a natural result — never pulled or overdone — so you look like yourself, only refreshed and more vibrant.
The Face lift Procedure
A facelift is performed by making discreet incisions around the ears and sometimes under the chin. The deeper muscle and connective tissue layers are gently lifted and repositioned for long-lasting improvement, while excess skin is removed. In some cases, fat grafting is used to restore lost volume. Dr. Ramachandra tailors each procedure to the patient’s anatomy and goals, sometimes combining a facelift with a neck lift or eyelid surgery for a more comprehensive rejuvenation.
Recovery from a Face lift
Most patients experience swelling and bruising for 1–2 weeks, with initial healing allowing a return to social activities in about 2–3 weeks. Full recovery, including final results, may take several months. We will provide detailed aftercare instructions and am available to guide you through each stage of healing. You will notice gradual improvement as swelling subsides, revealing a more youthful, natural appearance.
Risks of a Face lift
While a facelift is generally safe in experienced hands, all surgery carries some risk. Possible complications include bleeding, infection, delayed wound healing, scarring, nerve injury, and asymmetry. Choosing a qualified, double board-certified facial plastic surgeon reduces these risks and ensures your procedure is performed with precision and safety.
